~ Field of Dreams ~

Do you remember the line in Field of Dreams when Dr. Graham said, “You know we just don’t recognize the most significant moments of our lives while they’re happening”?  I felt like I was having some of those moments this week.

I attended a memorial service in Greenville on Wednesday that was held a little chapel with a wall of windows that opened onto a pretty garden.  The setting was as much a part of the service as the lovely words and songs and truly made it an uplifting celebration of life.

The little dog was on my mind since he was going to his new home that evening.  The chapel was the perfect place to ask that he be accepted by his new little siblings, that he have the strength to go through heart worm treatments, and that memories of hard times be replaced by the love of his new family.

Well, here’s the little guy in his new home yesterday.  He is just as sweet as I thought he was the day I found him.  And while he still has some challenges ahead with his health, he has the best chance possible and will have lots of love along the way.

Do you remember in Field of Dreams when Shoeless Joe Jackson walked out of the corn onto the baseball field and asked if this was heaven?  I bet the little dog is thinking the same thing!

P.S.  I visited Shoeless Joe’s grave on Wednesday.  The gifts of baseballs, a bat and an old pair of shoes and socks were a touching site.

Hugs and thanks to everyone who helped to make a happy ending.

~ The Truck Is Packed ~

The truck is packed and I'm heading to DuPre's Antique Market with great new stuff for my booth.

P. S.  I think I found a new home for the little puppy.  It's been the longest few days knowing he's in the pound.  We'll know for sure on Wednesday.  In the meantime, I keep thinking about Plan B if it doesn't work out.  Fingers crossed.

Have a great week.

~ Sweetest Puppy Found ~

I found this sweet little dog today on my way to work.  He was eating trash in the road near the Mexican restaurant in the industrial area at Chattahoochee Avenue near Marietta Blvd.  When I stopped, he didn't run away, so I scooped him up and put him in my car.  He had a red collar on, with a wet, dirty shoe string tied to it.

The little guy was so relaxed and precious.  Since I was half an hour from home and just down the street from the animal shelter I went there.  I hated to leave the little guy at the Fulton Animal Control Center, but I am hoping that his owners will find him at the shelter, and if not, that he will find another loving home through the adoption and foster program.  If I wasn't gone from home 12 hours a day, I would be first in line to adopt him; and if need be, I'll go back and get him if he isn't adopted.

If anyone in Atlanta is seeing this, please consider adopting this precious little guy.  He has such a wonderful disposition and deserves a loving home.

Going to hug my kitties now.  They are all so precious.

~ La Caze: My Design Fantasy + Things I'm Loving At DuPre's ~

I love everything about the gorgeous rooms from La Caze that were featured in Greige last week.  The simple details and white backdrop make every piece important.  This vignette is my favorite.

The talented dealers at DuPre's Antique Market have collected many of the essential elements that make up these fabulous rooms:

   Painted French arm chairs

Primitive side table

 Beautiful French Santos

Stone containers with organic materials

I love the contrasting elements in La Caze's dining room:  the rustic table paired with ruffled upholstered benches; an elegant gold mirror paired with a large religious cross; and a dramatic Italian chandelier paired with clay pots.

Essential elements at DuPre's Antique Market:

Vintage star burst clock works well in place of a mirror

Organic religious cross

Clay pottery

La Caze's keeping room has one of my absolute favorite design elements:  a gorgeous crystal chandelier!  It contrasts beautifully with the organic materials in the room.

Essential elements at DuPre's Antique Market:

Beautiful chandelier

Large wooden bowl

Sea coral

Iron urns with organic materials
Finally, La Caze's living room has a perfect blend of feminine and masculine elements.

Essential elements at DuPre's Antique Market:

Gray painted trumeau mirror

Leather chairs

Heavy wood furniture pieces

Iron fireplace screen ~ shot through the window (sorry!)

Happy Fourth of July!  I hope it sparkles.
